From the creators of Firefox, Thunderbird is an alternative and free email client. Thunderbird functions much like Microsofts Outlook Express, but has added features such as beysian spam filters, and added security. This software can be downloaded from http://www.mozilla.org as well.

This is a free Spyware software. It helps to identify, remove, and immunize your computer against hidden malware (or harmful software). Ad-Aware
This is a free version of another Spyware software. Much like Spybot it helps to fight against malware. There are many people who prefer Spybot over Ad-Aware and vice versa. I, personaly, use both in order to cover all my bases. Ad-Aware can also be downloaded from http://www.lavasoft.com.
AVG Antivirus
AVG Anti-Virus FREE Edition is a well-known anti-virus protection
tool. This software is available free-of-charge to home users for
the life of the product! The good folks at AVG keep virus definitions up to date, and provide the updates for free to home users of their product. This software is easy to use and unlike Norton Antivirus, is not at all a resource hog.
